Philips unveils 56″ 3D HDTV

Philips unveiled a killer new 3D HDTV at the 3D Biz Ex event in Hollywood earlier this week, with a hefty price tag to boot.
The 56″ Quad Full (3840×2160 resolution), autostereoscopic 3D HD TV does not require special glasses to be viewed and has a 160 degree viewing angle.
Put simply, autostereoscopic displays work by projecting a different image into each eye, though there are a range of technologies which can be employed to achieve this effect. The Philips TV boasts 46 simultaneous views, seen depending on the angle the viewer is watching from.
The 8.29 megapixel monster will cost in the region of US$25,000 and will initially be targeted at businesses rather than home users. Philips does hope that 3D HDTV will eventually become a consumer product, however, and have been working hard to ensure that content is available to take advantage of their hardware. Their 3DWow technology facilitates the conversion of regular HD movies to 3D and will be promoted heavily along with the TV.

Philips Shoqbox
I rarely use the clock radio in a hotel room. One, I don’t trust that it will work, and two, I don’t want to spend the time figuring out the typically Byzantine path to programming it. Lately I’ve been using my cell phone for an alarm, but I prefer music to the beep of my Treo. And I prefer my music to what plays on most commercial radio stations. The confluence of these preferences leads me to Philips’ ShoqBox Personal Sound System: A combination alarm clock, speaker system and MP3 player in a travel-size case....

Tired of reading "review" after "review" from either Xbox fanboys that are just jealous or guys that don't even own a PS3? Me too. I actually OWN a PS3 and put it through it's paces for the past hour or so and decided to come on and write a review. First off my system: TV - Sony KDLXBR3 46" LCD 1080p AVR - Harman Kardon AVR635 5.1 speakers - Definitive Techonology ProCinema 100 system with sub PS3 - connected to TV via HDMI, connected to AVR via optical So understand I am putting out the best this thing can offer. Also understand people that review this are...
